Thank you for choosing to travel with Interislander! All travel with Interislander (a division of Toll NZ Consolidated Limited) is subject to the General Conditions. Provisions in the General Conditions exclude or limit the liability of Interislander for any loss or damage to your property or suffered by you. Summarised below are some of the key General Conditions. www.interislander.co.nz.
Tickets and Passengers – The person named on this ticket accepts the terms as an agent for all persons who are intended to be carried under this ticket. Tickets are not transferable. This ticket will be invalid if altered in any way. Any decision to carry a passenger and/or their property and vehicle is at the sole discretion of Interislander. Interislander may refuse to carry any passenger, property or vehicle that does not comply with Interislander’s requirements or instructions.
Service Delays, Changes or Cancellations – Departure times are not guaranteed. Schedules are subject to change. Interislander will not be liable for any loss suffered as a result of a service departing/arriving before or after the scheduled time or being cancelled altogether.
Luggage Allowance – Each passenger may check-in two items of luggage, up to a weight of 32 kg and a total size of 200 linear cm (height plus length plus width). For safety reasons, there are no exceptions for the weight restriction. Additional baggage items in excess of this may be conveyed subject to availability, weight and size limitations. Additional items will incur an additional cost.
Hand Luggage – Fragile and perishable articles, money and valuables must be carried as hand luggage. All hand luggage is carried at owner’s risk.
Insurance – Interislander advises passengers to obtain travel insurance covering delays, changes or cancellations and to insure all vehicles, luggage, personal items and other property.
Inspection of Property – Interislander reserves the right to inspect at any time any vehicle, luggage or other property.
Unclaimed Property – Any unclaimed property/vehicles will be stored at owner’s risk. Interislander has the right to sell any unclaimed property and reclaim costs incurred.
Vehicles – Interislander may at any time reassess the classification of any vehicle (type, width, length or weight) and make any applicable changes to the fare charged. Any increases in a fare must be paid before the vehicle is loaded.
All vehicles must conform with all laws, regulations and the General Conditions relating to the carriage of the vehicle and any Hazardous Goods or Substances.
Carriage of a vehicle may be refused if Interislander considers it to be insecurely loaded or otherwise unsafe for carriage.
- LPG tanks on campervans should be turned off.
- The use of cell phones during boarding or disembarking our vessels is prohibited.
- If boarding at night, please turn off your lights once you have entered the ship as they dazzle the crew giving parking instructions to drivers.
- Once parked, please ensure your handbrake is fully engaged and your car is in gear (or ‘park’ for automatic vehicles).
- Lock your vehicle and ensure all loose items on or in your vehicle are secure and safe from loss, damage or theft.
- Interislander may secure vehicles using ropes and lashings and is not liable for any damage to a vehicle or any fittings on a vehicle resulting from the chaffing or moving of lashings or ropes.
Hazardous Goods and Substances – Carriage of Hazardous Goods and Substances may be permitted only if arranged in advance with Interislander prior to making your booking.
Arms and Munitions – All firearms, weapons and ammunition must be rendered inoperable to the maximum extent reasonably possible, i.e. removal of the bolt, and presented to Interislander for inspection, prior to checking in. Passengers with a vehicle should ensure they are locked securely inside their vehicle and remain out of sight. Passengers without a vehicle need to check-in their firearms, weapons and ammunition with their luggage at the terminal.
Domestic Animals – Small domestic animals may be carried inside vehicles, or kennels can be provided at an extra cost. Please ensure adequate ventilation for animals in vehicles.
Passengers requiring boarding assistance – If you require assistance when boarding, please contact the Duty Manager on arrival at the terminal.
Smoking – Smoking is permitted in the designated outdoor areas only.
Terminals – Wellington Terminal is located on Aotea Quay, Picton terminal is located on Auckland Street (vehicle check-is off Lagoon Street). For a location map please visit the Terminal page on our website www.interislander.co.nz.
Wellington Shuttle bus – A free shuttle bus to the Wellington Interislander terminal leaves the Wellington Railway Station 35 minutes before departure times. The shuttle is equipped with a hoist for mobility-impaired passengers in wheelchairs.
Interislander’s Liability is Limited – Interislander’s liability per item of checked luggage or property is capped at the sum provided in section 15(1) of the Carriage of Goods Act 1979.
Interislander’s liability is limited to proven direct compensatory damages (which does not include, without limitation, loss of profit, revenue or business or exemplary, indirect or consequential losses or damages).
Interislander’s liability for loss of or damage to checked luggage or property may be further limited if you fail to take all steps to eliminate the risk of loss of or damage to or theft of your property.
Any claim for loss of or damage to property must be given to Interislander within 30 days in accordance with section 18 of the Carriage of Goods Act 1979.
Interislander reserves the right to inspect any vehicle, baggage or other property.
Refunds – Refund conditions vary dependent upon the fare purchased – see the Booking Details section of this Travel Voucher. To be eligible for a refund, you must cancel your booking BEFORE the check-in time. Cancellations may be made online at www.interislander.co.nz – go to “Change Booking” and select “Cancel” or call 0800 802 802. Written refund requests must be made within 30 days of the scheduled date of departure – send your request to “Refunds, Interislander, Private Bag, Wellington” outlining the reason for the refund and providing your contact details.
